How often do you clean (snake) your sewer system at home? Typically, I clean (snake) my sewer once a year. There are 3 of us living in the house. Does anyone have any alternative advice or suggestions of the time frame of sewer maintenance. By the way I live in a city where we are connected to a sewer system.
what kind of residential sewer system compressor pump do I need? I recently bought a house with its own personal sewer system. My toilet started backing up and bubbling when I run water out of the tub. I now noticed that the compressor umb is not running. What is wrong. I think the pump not running is the problem, but I do not know where and what kindof pumb to buy. I took the serial number and part number off the not working pump? Where should I go from here. signed female cavewoman.
how much does a new aerobic sewer system cost? I need a new sewer system. We have water (dirty septic water) sitting in the back yard so I think it's time to replace the system. I live on the gulf coast of Texas and just wanting a round-about price. Thanks
I need to connect to my neighbors sewer system? My neighbor has a sewer manhole on his property about 100 yards from my property. It is a straight line downhill so no flow issues. Southwestern Bell Damaged My Sewer System, What Should I Do? I recently purchased a home and had the water utilities turned on. I noticed that the toliet would not flush. I called a plumber and after he unclogged the main sewer line. We noticed that it is a telephone wire running through the sewer system drain pipe going into the city sewer system. A couple of years ago the telephone company ran new wires under ground all around the city. And apparently who every dug the trenches, trenched through my sewer line. I need information n What should I do, and how do I contact there corporate office. And what should I say?

How expensive are aerobic sewer systems? Can they be changed to septic? I'm house hunting for my first house. There's one I'm interested in. It has an aerobic sewer system. Will these systems make my electric bill high? Also, how much does it cost per month or year for a maintainance contract? I know nothing about this stuff. Can they be changed back over to septic? If anyone knows the real cost per month to own these let me know. I've researched and found that they are more maintainance and money to operate. Just want to know how much? Want to know if I should disregard this house because of this system. I don't anticipate having a lot of extra money every month to deal unexpected things like this. Thanks in advance for any help!
Sewer system subculture? Is i possible to live in the sewer systems like the teenage mutant ninja turtles? Are the sewers big enough to live in? Is it possible to go building to building via the sewers?
How does a sump pump with in relation to a drainage system and sewer system? Does the stuff from the toilet & sink go in the sewer system and whatever water that seeps in from the ground go in the drainage system, or are they connected? If it all goes into the same system what is a sump pump for? Does it just deal with overflow (and the thought being no poop will rise that high)? What does it mean in one of the drains in the basement is flooding but the sump pump doesn't have a lot of water in it? Is there a clog between the drain and the sump pump or in the sewer? D'oh! I meant "How does a sump pump WORK in relation..."
What's the protocol to fill or remove an unused sewer system in LA - St. Martin Parish? We live in St. Martin Parish in Louisiana and we have an old, unused sewer system on our property. It's basically a large tire-size (in diameter) hole in the ground with a flimsy, rusted cover that's not secured and has holes rusted through it. There's no telling what's in there; we'd love to just fill the hole and call it a day but something tells me that's not proper protocol. Does anyone know how to handle this? Who would I contact? My water company is too small to even have a website and they never answer their phone. Help! All suggestions/ideas/comments welcome.
Can someone indefinitely use broken sewer pipes without backups? There has been leakage from my uphill neighbors' sewer pipes for many years. But where is the sewage (plus roof water going into it) going? Their plumber has not been able to find out where their sewer connects to the sewer system. Could it just be a big septic leaching system in their back yard, with the earth acting a sponge, bring all that diluted fecal coliform water down through my property? Is that where all the water, etc. is going?
does anyone know about sewer lagoons? I am building a home in central missouri outside any city limits. I am finding out that all of the people around here have lagoons for there sewer instead of septic tanks. There is no public sewer system out here. My question does anyone know if these are safe and how to build one. My husband and I are building 98% of this house ourselves.
the water that they use for the sprinkler system is that sewer water??? i was just wondering because this morning i went outside and the sprinklers where on and it smelled like cow manuer and then again that would be dangerous if that was poop because some kids play in it,and it also gets on our patio furniture outside such as our chairs and our table and that has alot of bacteria.oh and one last thing could you tell me why they use that type of water and not fresh water. thankyou so much!!!
Can sewer gas leak into bathroom pipes? Any plumbers out there who can help explain these bad smells? I have noticed for quite some time that occasionally, my bathroom has a strong vial smell, almost like raw sewage. No, this is not typical "bathroom odors", it is unbearably strong. I figured out it is coming from the toilet. This happens even when the toilet has not been used for several hours. I have a city sewer system, not a septic tank. What could be causing this? Can gases leak up from the sewer system? Any ideas? It seems to be getting worse and worse. Please help!! Thanks guys! It definately seems to be coming from the toilet area. One question however, if it was a problem with the wax ring (I replaced it about 6 months ago due to a leak) wouldn't there be water leaking as well? Re "Skippy's" answer. NO! Roaches?? Can they come up through the sewer pipes? OMG If that's the case, I'm all over replacing that wax ring again!
Any one in either Navarre or Crestview had any "community sewer" problems? I've asked a similar question today earlier, but if any one out there who live in that area and has community sewer for their house, please help. I am going to buy a house and need help on some info with community sewer systems. I had some answers earlier, and thank you guys so much. But just wondering if might be some one from same area I am trying to buy a house at?

Septic system problem. Cost to connect to city sewer? Thank you to all who answered my original question. Our situation is now much clearer and therefore the new question. The septic system is now handling showers, dishwaher, and toilets without backup. Baffle is ok and water is flowing down outlet pipe towards fields. Original owner told me he has had fields redone a few times since original install in 1953. One septic contracter suggested auxillary field installation on the side of my house. 18 inches deep. By the way, the soil is clay. I am asking for quotes on tapping into city sewer. Any ideas on what it should be? Must use xtra heavy 4" iron. Maybe 100 foot run and excavation. Near the street they might have to dig a hole 16 feet deep to reach sewer pipe. It would be 6 feet from my curb under the blacktop.
Could someone address weaknesses of 'vacuum sewer systems'? We are studying the option of using 'vacuum sewer systems' for a forthcoming project. The location of installation would be at a remotely located small island and adjacent to sea. The ground level is almost flat and water table there is high. Please help by sharing your experience and highlight the disadvantages and weaknesses of this system as compared to conventional sewer system. Thank you!
