Sewer System Wastes Knowledge Base

I have a sewer pump that emits odors in the home. I am on a sewer -not a septic system.how do I fix it? my sewer pump pushes the waste up from my basement to the sanitary sewer.when the wind is blowing from a certain direction, the house smells of sewer waste.what could be causing this problem?
Do you think scientists in the future could make a human out of collected dna sewer waste? A major city has an unlimited supply dna donations daily to the sewer system. Do you think someday scientist could mix up a sample and somehow clone it into a person. Freaky to think of it and it shouldn't be sone but do you think they could?
looking for some one who knows what a dry sewer means new sewer system coming to my town? DEQ said some thing about a dry sewer because we don't have the waste water treatment plant yet so what is a dry sewer system can any one explain it to me need to know before next meeting which is July 29th can't seem to find the answer any where
waste water reclamation system and sewer sand oil trap? do i need this stuff for my car detailing business.. i cant find laws on this at all FYI im in OHIO
Is THERE ANYTHING WRONG using PAPER TOWELS in place of TOILET PAPER? Wrong in the PLUMING ASPECT not texture? Is there much of anything that could go wrong using paper towels on a toilet that is connected to city/ town Sewer waste system?
Building a combined septic tank and sewer because sewer line is long? I bought a house that is 400 feet from the main sewer line. Now, I'm afraid that over time, it will clog up. It is beneficial to have a septic tank like system where waste pools in a tank and the overflow (hopefuly only water) spills over into the sewer. Then have the tank cleaned every year? The difference between this proposed system and a septic tank system is that there is a sewer line instead of a drain field.
Basement bathroom waste system? Finishing my basement. Sewer pipe to city is 3 1/2 feet above floor. I have a sump pump well which runs year around due to "natural spring" under foundation. I want to install Shower, 2 sinks and towlet for bath and ult./laundry room What system would be recommended to be "BEST" for this application, and any layout idea's, costs expectations, above the up-flush tank and plummer/electrication would be greatly appriciated.
Do you think all cities should be charged for not fixing leaks their sewer systems? The sewage system that has leaking pipes reduces the cost of having to treate the sewage. The undergound water flows back into rivers and lakes. The underground water table can sometimes is a higher presure than a broken pipe that has the drinking water. Few people drink water straight from the water system. Over a period of time untreated and treated body secretions can damage a person body and brain. Body secretions should be pumped like cement or crude oil to a hazardous waste incinerator and burned to produce electricity. Improving the economic system so their is more money to create jobs and increase the wealth of people in poverty
Kitchen sink base smells? We do not have a garbage disposer and therefore we do not put waste food in the kitchen sink. We remove it and put it in the trash bag. We do not have a sewer system. Waste water from the kitchen and the shower is collected in a pit outside the house and is allowed to percolate into the ground. The pit is cleaned regularly. Dont ask my why, thats how the landlord designed it. Coming to my problem... the base where the pipe from the sink ends stinks real bad. I looked it up on the net and there were suggestions like lemon, ice, baking soda and vinegar but I suppose all that is for a kitchen sink with a garbage disposer. Any suggestions for my problem?
a waste water treatment plant's process is almost identical to the human digestion and waste system...? including screening and macerating solids,,(teeth), seperating solids from liquids, (side streams in the body leading to liver, kidneys, bladder, etc..), and temperature (98.6 in both digesters and humans ), and PH balance similar in digesters and humans...finally waste effluent in the plant is chlorinated and transferred to receiving waters...In humans urine is sterile and is transferred back to the sewer...There are many more similarities, too many to recount here,,,such as bacterial oxidation of solids. Also when digesters in the plant get "upset" they are dosed with lime or alkalines to raise PH levels....any way, my question actually is, is this all coincidental, or did the first waste water engineers model the plant process directly from the human body???....anybody know??? thx. in advice for answer..
Looking for suggestions for micro brewery waste? I have a Micro Brewery that is cleaning it's vats and discharging it into our sewer system and sitting in our lift station. It is creating a big problem with the yeast from the cleaning process growing and causing our floats to fail. The waste that we are getting is what is left in the bottom of the vats when they are flushed and cleaned. Does anyone have any idea on how to pretreat the waste before being discharged into the sewer system?
Best material to use for a waste line? I am running a 3 inch sewer/waste line to be connected to the city's system. Am I better off using abs, pvc, cast iron or another material? Thanks.
How do I vent an old home (new to me)? 80 yr old house but drainage plumbing improperly installed 10 yrs ago? The laundry drain gurgles when i drain the bathtub and the bathroom sink gets an odor of sewer gas. Also when i drain the kitchen sink, which is a double basin model, the waste water rises up into the other basin about 1/2 inch above drain before draining out. I don't see any vent pipes inside or any vents on roof. No Studor type vents either. All plumbing fixtures are on main floor within 15' radius. My property is rural and sewer system is an underground holding tank with above ground pump-out/ejector system. I'm not worried about "code" at this point as I am looking for answers/suggestions. I will deal with "code" in our area before I begin the work. Your help is appreciated... Thank you.
what do you think is one of the greatest invention of man kind is/was? out of all the inventions made? what do you think is/was the greatest man made invention. you can only pick one and then tell why you pick that one. I pick the sewer system just think about it> what if you had no toilet or no sewer system .no waste system at all. now I know there`s part somewhere/places in the world that don't have sewer systems and that's just awful but just imagine if there was not type of system all over the world that why I picked the sewer system omg man didn't make or discover fire.
After a body is embalmed, what do they do with the blood they remove from the body? Do they have a waste company that specially removes it from the funeral homes facility or do they just let it go down a drain into the city sewer system? This is an argument between myself and a coworker! $5 is riding on this !
how do I make a septic tank for kitchen waste ? I Live in a fairly rocky area. I have no connection to a public sewer system. I am looking for a simple DIY solution.
UNCLE LUIE – Is he still your uncle upon death? Your uncle Luie is a wonderful man. He visits your family frequently and is always playful with the kids. Tragically, he dies in a car accident. (1) After one week in his grave is he still your uncle Luie? (2) IF YOU ANSWERED YES THEN CONTINUE. If a freak removes his body from the grave but leaves only the skull is that skull still your uncle Luie? (3) IF YOU ANSWERED YES THEN CONTINUE. If a second freak removes the skull from the grave. Is your uncle Luie in two places at once? (4) IF YOU ANSWERED YES THEN CONTINUE. Assume that the two freaks manage to cook and eat and to fully digest these body parts. The two freaks shall obviously go to the bathroom at some point. Uncle Luie shall be released into the sewer system as waste. At which point during this process does uncle Luie’s body cease to be uncle Luie?
Another question about reduced water in toilet U bends? I have 3 toilets (loos) in my house, 2 upstairs and 1 downstairs. The water level in the toilet bowl in ONE of the upstairs toliets has been significantly dropping between flushes for the last month - it never used to do this and none of the others is doing it. I looked and found a previous answer which said this is caused by the wind blowing over the stench pipe up the side of the house and creating a 'venturi' effect. This 'suction' air pressure sips a little water over the U bend in the toilet pan, which goes down the waste pipe. Hence, less water until the loo is flushed. Another previous answer said this would affect all toilets connected to the waste system. All of mine feed into the same sewer and we only have one stench pipe. So - my question is - why is this only happening with one of the toilets and should I call in a plumber ??? Thanks for your time if you are able to help.
Kitchen disposer installation in Japan? I live in Japan and I want to install a kitchen waste disposer. The builder wants me to build some kind of underground tank for purifying the scraps-I`m not sure what he means but he said that installing a disposer is kind of like adding another bathroom. The cost of the underground tank is about $5000. The sewer system here is different than in the US, but I was wondering if I could just install the disposer without the underground tank and do you think it would cause any problems?
How is Indian Goverment going to solve human waste problem? Fewer than 30 percent of India's 1.1 billion people have bathrooms in their homes or easy access to public toilets. The rest routinely relieve themselves in the open -- along roadsides, on farmland or in municipal parks. No more than 250 of the country's 4,000 cities and towns have sewer systems, and many of those systems do not have treatment plants. The bulk of municipal sewage -- even from such major cities as Bombay and Calcutta -- flows untreated into rivers, lakes or the sea.
Main pipe in drainage system clogged, anything I can do without calling a plumber? When someone flushes the toilet or uses the sink, etc. the waste water comes up all drains in my basement, (the ones in furnace room for moisture drainage). Would the city fix this problem, because it's on the way out of my house, and could be a problem in the sewers?
Is Jesus made of flesh in Heaven (right now)? Catholics believe Mary didn't die, her body flew into Heaven... ...so if there are beings existing in the flesh in Heaven, how often do you think they poop? Where do they go? Where does heaven's sewer system take the waste? Do you think it sucks being like the only two fleshy beings in all of Heaven?
What do I need to know about mobile homes? I am 23 years old and need to move out of my parents house.I considered renting an apartment, but they are expensive and I don't make a ton of money..plus you have nothing to show for in the end...you pretty much throw away your money, and the apartments I can afford don't make me feel safe. I then saw that a mobile home isn't all that expensive...a brand new double wide is going for just under $40,000. I wouldn't want something that big, as it is just me. But it all depends on the loans available. So what sort of loan terms are available? I live in NH and have very good credit. Like how many months/years is typical at what rate? I need to figure out how much I can afford. What about lot fees? How much do they run on average? I live in New England, so rates are probably more than other areas of the country. How is waste eliminated...like what sort of septic sewer system and water systems are there in a park. I know it would vary everywhere...but I am clueless. What else should I know about? I know a mobile home isn't a great investment, they depreciate and all. But still. I am in a research phase...I am not set on buying a mobile home. What are common problems with mobile homes? How much would a newer (like 2003 or newer), single wide home go for? Once again, I know that prices vary all over the country...if you know about New England market, that would be appreciated! Please answer whatever questions you can...I would like to learn anything that I can. And if you are just going to be a jerk, don't bother...thoughtful responses are really appreciated! Thank you.
Need to replace a cast iron waste pipe and main sewer line and trap.Is this estimate right? Should I replace? The plumber estimates replacing a rusted iron cast waste pipe that is about 20 feet long and exposed for $2600. That includes replacing with a pvc material. I know I need to get this done because the rust is so bad its starting to drip. However, he notcied that the main sewer and trap line out to the public system needs to replaced soon as well. They would have to dig up my driveway for that. They estimate $3500 for that job. Are these estimates in the ball park? If the waste started rusting out, I am assuming the main line out to the public is bad too, but can I wait until next year to replace before it becomes a problem? If I wait and it backsup, will it be more money to replace later than now? I just dont have the money to do the $3500 job, but need to know if this is immediate need? Thanks for your help.
History of garbage disposal in the US? I don't know where to find this in my history book. Maybe it starts from the new colonies to before the depression. When did the nation start to dispose garbage with sewer systems and dumps? I remember that there's a section about how NY people typically threw their garbage out the window and the connection of diseases and waste. It would be more helpful if someone can ballpark a date or provide links (like to an article on sparknotes.com) Thanks!
do you believe theres such thing as wasting water? i don't because i saw on the science channel that your used water gets put inot the sewer system were its taken to a purification plant and then cleaned to be reused.
How does the plumbing work in skyscrapers? Weird question, but I've often wondered exactly how waste from toilets, sinks, etc. flow from the 80th floor to the city sewage system. Is there a massive sewer line that all of the floors are connected to, or what? And how do they provide water pressure for the upper floors?
landlord/rental/etc? Is this legal... I've been living in someones home- renting it... but there is NO lease. All i had was a written agreement that I could stay here for one year... but no conditions or anything. ANyway, the sewer system backed up- literally human waste on the floors of the basement... water all over the place, etc. I called and told the owner that it happened. She came over and cleaned it up, and told me to "Poop outside in a bucket" (I'm serious, here) until it was fixed. Two months later, nothing had changed- nothing was fixed. And I had been going to other peoples houses to go to the bathroom, and driving to a convienence store at night when I had to go. (Fun!) Anyway, after I complained about it again, she came over with two guys (like security guards) telling me I had 30 days to get out....and the two guys were verbally attacking me.. about the sewer. Can't anything be done?
Questions about our drain field.? We have been told our drain field has to be replaced at a tune of about $4000.00. The thing is, within about 1 to 2 years the county I live in will have installed a sewer system which will make the $4000.00 a hugh waste! So we are just going to have the septic pumped every 2-3 months at $225.00 a pop, but it is still cheaper. My question, any suggestions on how to make the 2-3 months stretch any farther? We do the obvious, IE: limit water use, limit flushes, wash large loads, don't put anything down the garbage disposal, etc... I didn't know if there were any other tricks of the trade someone could suggest. Thanks in advance!! The county really is putting in sewers. They have done about 1/2 of the county already. We are projected to be started on in a year, that is why I pushed it to 2 years since I know how things go. Also, $4000.00 was the average bid from 3 different companies.
Why do people think christians have to except all of science....? Why do people think that just because christians except some science that they have no choice but to give up everything else and go with all science and not part of it. They think just because christians except some science they have to give up the bible. They think science is like the bible that if you believe some of it you must believe all of it. Well some science is pretty basic and exceptable like how there are planets, and skin cells, and the way the body works and pumps blood, computers and other things but evolution is a theory science and is not real so it's unexceptable because it's not real and just foolishness. God created everything it didnt evolve. evolution is rediculous because they say things like a big *ss dinosaur is now a crow. Common sense, God created everything Too bad I don't have room to elaborate, somethings in science just explain how God works like how he made us to have a cardio system, sex drive, hormones, sewer system to get rid of bodily waste.
Are you happy with the stimulus? Here are some interesting details on the "stimulus" package. If you would not mind forwarding this along to your friends, family, and contacts, it would be greatly appreciated. The more info Americans have on this bill, the only thing stimulated will be anger and outrage, because none of this stimulates the economy or creates Jobs. * The interest payments alone on the stimulus would cost $350 billion over the next ten years, which means the next generation will have to pay the bills. * The bill contains nothing in it that would stimulate the economy, but its only a down-payment on big government spending. In reality, it's a welfare proposal. Wasteful Spending Provisions * $2 billion earmark to re-start FutureGen, a near-zero emissions coal power plant in Illinois that the Dept. of Energy defunded last year because the project was inefficient * $650 million for the digital television (DTV) converter box coupon program * $88 million for the Coast Guard to design a new polar icebreaker (arctic ship) * $448 million for constructing the Dept. of Homeland Security headquarters * $248 million for furniture at the new Dept. of Homeland Security headquarters * $600 million to buy hybrid vehicles for federal employees * $400 million for the CDC to screen and prevent STD's * $1.4 billion for a rural waste disposal programs * $125 million for the Washington , D.C. sewer system * $150 million for Smithsonian museum facilities * $1 billion for the 2010 Census, which has a projected cost overrun of $3 billion * $75 million for "smoking cessation activities" * $200 million for public computer centers at community colleges * $75 million for salaries of employees at the FBI * $25 million for tribal alcohol and substance abuse reduction * $500 million for flood reduction projects on the Mississippi River * $10 million to inspect canals in urban areas * $6 billion to turn federal buildings into "green" buildings * $500 million for state and local fire stations * $650 million for wildland fire management on Forest Service lands * $1.2 billion for "youth activities," including youth summer job programs * $88 million for renovating the headquarters of the Public Health Service * $412 million for CDC buildings and property * $500 million for building and repairing NIH facilities in Bethesda, MD * $160 million for "paid volunteers" at the Corporation for National and Community Service * $5.5 million for "energy efficiency initiatives" at the VA " National Cemetery Administration" * $60 million for Arlington National Cemetery * $850 million for Amtrak * $100 million for reducing the hazard of lead-based paint * $75M to construct a new "security training" facility for State Dept Security officers when they can be trained at existing facilities of other agencies. * $110 million to the Farm Service Agency to upgrade computer systems * $200 million in funding for the lease of alternative energy vehicles for use on military installations. * $275 million for "watershed and flood prevention operations" * Eliminates fees on loans from the Small Business Administration, thus pushing private capital toward unproductive businesses and away from productive businesses. * Increases the definition of "youth" for certain summer job programs from age 21 to age 24. * $160 million to the Job Corps program at the Dept. of Labor, but not for job programs - rather, to construct, alter or repair buildings. * Requires a government study on the impact of minimum wage laws on the Northern Mariana Islands and American Samoa . * A $246 million tax break for Hollywood movie producers to buy motion picture film. * $79 billion State Fiscal Stabilization (slush) Fund to bailout the States by providing billions of dollars for "education" costs of any kind. * $47.843 billion is appropriated for a variety of energy programs that are primarily focused on renewable energy development and energy conservation/efficiency. Not one dollar is appropriated to make fossil fuels more affordable in the near future. More than $6 billion of these funds go to environmental clean ups. * Increases eligibility for "weatherization" assistance to households 200 percent above the poverty level. * The "Making Work Pay" credit of $500 to every individual making less than $75,000 (or $1000 to couples making $150,000 or less) would pay people whether they are productive or not - akin to welfare. * The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP- food stamps) would temporarily suspend the 3-month limit for non-working adults to receive SNAP benefits, thus giving incentives not to find a job. * Installs government as the creator of broadband deployment regardless of whether the speci
How to design a closed loop cooling system? Here it goes. I'm a ME at a steam power plant. We have three NG boilers and many auxiliary equipment. Equipment like pumps, sample coolers, air compressors, air conditioning units, some forced draft fans, etc. All these components require cooling water to flow through them to operate properly. Currently, we take city water, pipe it to the components. The water cools the component as required but is then released to the city drain. The cooling water we released to the sewer is a significant cost. My boss has asked me to design and install a closed loop cooling system so the water is recovered and not wasted. She provided me with a large water chilling unit that will most likely cool the loop adequately. So the heat will enter the cooling loop from the cooled components and rejected out of the system thought the chiller. Question: I know the size of the supply lines currently installed for the once through system. ( 2", 1" 3/4" copper pipe etc.) Including the main header that crossed the entire power plant. My plan is to leave the supply lines installed to the components and just install a return header back to the chiller. Do I design the retire header and lines the same size of the supply lines or do I need another Calc? Does anyone know of a book that I can refer to for this type of design? Thanks! How will the water return to the chiller? I plan to connect a return line on the currently component drain line. In some cases that is difficult simply becasue of the position of the component relatie to the floor. Each eturn line will then connect to a common return header that returnes to the chiller. It seems to reason that the return lines and header would need to be able to handle the same mass flowrate as the supply and thus the same or similar size. The chiller cooles the water by a referigerant cycle. The freon (or what ever is the latest thing) has a very large heat exhange. Chiller rejects heat to air like a heat pump except with out the heating part. I'm not sure if there is a collectoin basin inside the chiller but I need to find out. I woud have to have some expansion mechanism for when the water heats up. Water also has an automatic water fill valve when water in the system is low. I will need to read the chiller manual closer. where could I find info on a residential wastewater reclamation system sized for a single family home? I'm curious if it's possible or if the technology even exists yet to provide a rural homeowner with a wastewater treatment system that is small enough to be housed in a small shed and would clean, filter and reclaim the sewer water that would normally flow to a municipal waste water plant or septic tank?? If possible this would allow it to be reused for non-potable uses such as landscape irrigation, washing the car, washing clothes, etc... If anyone knows anything about this or where to find more info I would appreciate it.
Do you think your MONEY has been wasted on the Stimulus? This is what "SOME" of your money that will be paid by your GREAT, GREAT Grand children will be paying for. 2050: Grandpa.....what the HELL am I paying for that your generation did back in 2009 $650 million for the digital television converter box coupon program. • $88 million for the Coast Guard to design a new polar icebreaker (arctic ship). • $448 million for constructing the Department of Homeland Security headquarters. • $248 million for furniture at the new Homeland Security headquarters. • $600 million to buy hybrid vehicles for federal employees. • $400 million for the Centers for Disease Control to screen and prevent STD's. • $1.4 billion for rural waste disposal programs. • $525 million for the Washington DC sewer system. • $150 million for Smithsonian museum facilities. • $1 billion for the 2010 Census, which has a projected cost overrun of $3 billion. • $75 million for "smoking cessation activities." • $200 million for public computer centers at community colleges. • $75 million for salaries of employees at the FBI. • $25 million for tribal alcohol and substance abuse reduction. • $500 million for flood reduction projects on the Mississippi River. • $10 million to inspect canals in urban areas. • $6 billion to turn federal buildings into "green" buildings. • $500 million for state and local fire stations. • $650 million for wild land fire management on forest service lands. • $1.2 billion for "youth activities," including youth summer job programs. • $88 million for renovating the headquarters of the Public Health Service. • $412 million for CDC buildings and property. • $500 million for building and repairing National Institutes of Health facilities in Bethesda, Maryland. • $160 million for "paid volunteers" at the Corporation for National and Community Service. • $5.5 million for "energy efficiency initiatives" at the Department of Veterans Affairs National Cemetery Administration. • $850 million for Amtrak. • $100 million for reducing the hazard of lead-based paint. • $75 million to construct a "security training" facility for State Department Security officers when they can be trained at existing facilities of other agencies. • $110 million to the Farm Service Agency to upgrade computer systems. • $200 million in funding for the lease of alternative energy vehicles for use on military installations That's over 124 BILLION dollars in pork. I'm especially fond of the 75 million to pay for salaries in the FBI. Were their projections so bad that they are already out of money, or is this evidence of Obama re-instating the failed Clinton policy of treating the Global War on Terror as a police activity? How about another 650 billion to allow people to buy TV converters for the switch to digital. I never spent my expired coupons- how many other people ordered them and didn't spend them? How much money has fallen through the cracks on this already? 400 million to prevent STD's. I have one comment- zip up your fly- it'll save us 400 million dollars. Lastly 2 BILLION DOLLARS to fund a clean coal plant that has already been deemed a failure. 3 Million for the First Lady's closet re-do
Do you agree that our elected Republicans are right on wasteful list of spending? Your Question Do you agree w/ the house Republicans-List of wasteful provisions...? On Monday, House Republican leaders put out a list of what they call wasteful provisions in the Senate version of the nearly _$900 billion_ stimulus bill that is being debated: • $2 billion earmark to re-start FutureGen, a near-zero emissions coal power plant in Illinois that the Department of Energy defunded last year because it said the project was inefficient. • A $246 million tax break for Hollywood movie producers to buy motion picture film. • $650 million for the digital television converter box coupon program. • $88 million for the Coast Guard to design a new polar icebreaker (arctic ship) (global warming equipment?) • $448 million for constructing the Department of Homeland Security headquarters. • $248 million for furniture at the new Homeland Security headquarters. • $600 million to buy hybrid vehicles for federal employees. • $400 million for the Centers for Disease Control to screen and prevent STD's. • $1.4 billion for rural waste disposal programs. • $125 million for the Washington sewer system. • $150 million for Smithsonian museum facilities. • $1 billion for the 2010 Census, which has a projected cost overrun of $3 billion. • $75 million for "smoking cessation activities." (what's that?) • $200 million for public computer centers at community colleges. • $75 million for salaries of employees at the FBI. • $25 million for tribal alcohol and substance abuse reduction. (I thought they were exempt from the Fed. government) +500 million for flood reduction projects on the Mississippi River. • $10 million to inspect canals in urban areas. • $6 billion to turn federal buildings into "green" buildings. • $500 million for state and local fire stations. • $650 million for wildland fire management on forest service lands. • $1.2 billion for "youth activities," including youth summer job programs. (Obama's youth?) • $88 million for renovating the headquarters of the Public Health Service. • $412 million for CDC buildings and property. • $500 million for building and repairing National Institutes of Health facilities in Bethesda, Maryland. • $160 million for "paid volunteers" at the Corporation for National and Community Service. (paid volunteers?) • $5.5 million for "energy efficiency initiatives" at the Department of Veterans Affairs National Cemetery Administration. • $850 million for Amtrak, a business that's been losing money for the past 20 years. ( I think Amtrak should be revamped) • $100 million for reducing the hazard of lead-based paint. • $75 million to construct a "security training" facility for State Department Security officers when they can be trained at existing facilities of other agencies. • $110 million to the Farm Service Agency to upgrade computer systems. • $200 million in funding for the lease of alternative energy vehicles for use on military installations. (but O wants to cut our nukes by 80 percent?) *If you were voting to spend _our_ money, is this how you would be doing it under the guise of "stimulus"?* *Kentucky wisdom: "If it smells like a pig, and squeals like a pig, and eats any slop that you serve it, then it is certainly a politician that is pushing pork into what they would argue should be a legitimate bill.* *Note: House Republicians have identified the above as wasteful. What do you think?***
Is this list Stimulus or Pork? Its all in the bill... what do you think? • $2 billion earmark to re-start FutureGen, a near-zero emissions coal power plant in Illinois that the Department of Energy defunded last year because it said the project was inefficient. • A $246 million tax break for Hollywood movie producers to buy motion picture film. • $650 million for the digital television converter box coupon program. • $125 million for the Washington sewer system. • $150 million for Smithsonian museum facilities. • $1 billion for the 2010 Census, which has a projected cost overrun of $3 billion. • $200 million in funding for the lease of alternative energy vehicles for use on military installations The amtrack is my personal favorite... think that would be there if Biden wasnt in the picture? (but O wants to cut our nukes by 80 percent?) *If you were voting to spend _our_ money, is this how you would be doing it under the guise of "stimulus"?* *Kentucky wisdom: "If it smells like a pig, and squeals like a pig, and eats any slop that you serve it, then it is certainly a politician that is pushing pork into what they would argue should be a legitimate bill.* *Note: House Republicians have identified the above as wasteful. What do you think?***

Funny thing is the SCHIP bill that just passed is funded by tax increases on smokers. But this bill has $75 million for "smoking cessation activities." So how can we pay for SCHIP if we are going to get smokers to quit?

So what do you think about stimulus bill that is going to get pass.? Remember, this economic stimulus bill is supposed to be used as a catalyst to re-start our economy. Period. $1 billion for Amtrak, which hasn’t earned a profit in four decades. $400 million for research into global warming. $2.4 billion for projects to demonstrate how carbon greenhouse gas can be safely removed from the atmosphere. Remember, this economic stimulus bill is supposed to be used as a catalyst to re-start our economy. Period. $650 million for coupons to help consumers convert their TV sets from analog to digital, part of the digital TV conversion. $600 million to buy a new fleet of cars for federal employees and government departments. $75 million to fund programs to help people quit smoking. $21 million to re-sod the National Mall, which suffered heavy use during the Inauguration. Remember, this economic stimulus bill is supposed to be used as a catalyst to re-start our economy. Period. $2.25 billion for national parks. This item has sparked calls for an investigation, because the chief lobbyist of the National Parks Association is the son of Rep. David R. Obey, D-Wisc. The $2,25 billion is about equal to the National Park Service’s entire annual budget. The Washington Times reports it is a threefold increase over what was originally proposed for parks in the stimulus bill. Obey is chairman of the House Appropriations Committee. $335 million for treatment and prevention of sexually transmitted diseases. $50 million for the National Endowment for the Arts. $4.19 billion to stave off foreclosures via the Neighborhood Stabilization Program. The bill allows nonprofits to compete with cities and states for $3.44 billion of the money, which means a substantial amount of it will be captured by ACORN, the controversial activist group currently under federal investigation for vote fraud. Another $750 million would be exclusively reserved for nonprofits such as ACORN – meaning cities and states are barred from receiving that money. Sen. David Vitter, R-La., charges the money could appear to be a “payoff” for the partisan political activities community groups in the last election cycle. $44 million to renovate the headquarters building of the Agriculture Department. Remember, this economic stimulus bill is supposed to be used as a catalyst to re-start our economy. Period. $32 billion for a “smart electricity grid to minimize waste. $87 billion of Medicaid funds, to aid states. $53.4 billion for science facilities, high speed Internet, and miscellaneous energy and environmental programs. Remember, this economic stimulus bill is supposed to be used as a catalyst to re-start our economy. Period. $13 billion to repair and weatherize public housing, help the homeless, repair foreclosed homes. $20 billion for quicker depreciation and write-offs for equipment. $10.3 billion for tax credits to help families defray the cost of college tuition. $20 billion over five years for an expanded food stamp program. Remember, this economic stimulus bill is supposed to be used as a catalyst to re-start our economy. Period. Now how about those earmarks…? $2 billion earmark to re-start FutureGen, a near-zero emissions coal power plant in Illinois that the Dept. of Energy defunded last year because the project was inefficient $650 million for the digital television (DTV) converter coupon program $88 million for the Coast Guard to design a new polar icebreaker (ship) $448 million for constructing the Dept. of Homeland Security HQ $248 million for furniture at the new Homeland Security headquarters $600 million to buy hybrid vehicles for federal employees $400 million for the CDC to screen and prevent STD’s $1.4 billion for a rural waste disposal programs $125 million for the Washington, D.C. sewer system $150 million for Smithsonian museum facilities $1 billion for the 2010 Census, projected cost overrun of $3 billion $75 million for “smoking cessation activities” $200 million for public computer centers at community colleges $75 million for salaries of employees at the FBI $25 million for tribal alcohol and substance abuse reduction $500 million for flood reduction projects on the Mississippi River $10 million to inspect canals in urban areas $6 billion to turn federal buildings into “green” buildings $500 million for state and local fire stations $650 million for wildland fire management on Forest Service lands $150 million for Smithsonian museum facilities $1.2 billion for “youth activities,” including youth summer job programs $88 million for renovating the headquarters of the Public Health Service $412 million for CDC buildings and property $500 million for building and repairing NIH facilities in Bethesda, MD $160 million for “paid volunteers” at the Corporation for National and Community Service $5.5 million for “energy efficiency initiatives” at the VA “National Cemete
Vitamin question? I heard from my mother-in-law that multi-vitamins are a waste of money and that our bodies can't digest them. She said vitamins just end up half digested in the sewer system??? Is this really true? I'm anemic and I swear my multi-vitamins make me feel much better.
want to install a toilet in the basement on the floor onto a 5"dia.cover in the floor. In this room which is want to install a toilet in the basement on the floor onto a 5"dia.cover in the floor. In this room which is directly below the first floor powder room.Back to the basement room, the waste pipe from upstairs comes straight down into the floor.just before the floor there is a cleanout about 8"from the floor on this pipe.this is located by the side of the house wall;adjoining wall in a townhouse. If you draw a diagonal line on the floor from waste pipe to the cap or cover 4`9" o.c.which is 16"o.c.from the front wall of the basement wall.Is this a rough in for a toilet? If so what do I do to add a vent?I know that this is not sump pump location, the cement floor is all around this cap or cover flush to the floor.I do not want to put in a subfloor. Also I assume that allthe other plumbing in the house which is near the back is routed to this cap before exiting to the out side waste line.Note the cap or cover has a square indentation in the centre.Once again I know this is not sump tank location. I would like to do as much of the work myself so details on this would be more appreciated than points 9 hours ago - 1 week left to answer. Additional Details 9 hours ago I would also like to break up the floor to add a shower and sink.Help!I'mnot afraid to do as much as possible on my own.Thankyou in advance. J.R. 6 hours ago This cover in the floor could not be a rough in for a floor drain when it is located so close to an out side wall. I would love to get a reponce from someone with a plumbing background who would be more able to understand all the details of my discription. So far all I get; ask a plumber or some one who hasn't taken the time to read all the details. One more note;I live in Mississauga, Ontario,Canada maybe someone from this area with some knowledge could answer this. 5 hours ago No need for a pump, gravity sends all sewage from my basement out to the municipal sewer system. please read full artical before answering. Which part of the script should I use to draw a picture of? Lilo And Stitch Script Read the charges. Dr. Jumba Jookiba-- lead scientist of Galaxy Defense Industries-- you stand before this council accused of illegal genetic experimentation. How do you plead? Not guilty! My experiments are only theoretical-- completely within legal boundaries. We believe you actually created something. Created something?! Ha! But that would be irresponsible and unethical. I would never, ever... make more than one. What is that monstrosity? Monstrosity! What you see before you is the first of a new species. I call it Experiment 626. He is bulletproof, fireproof and can think faster than supercomputer. He can see in the dark and move objects times his size. His only instinct: To destroy everything he touches! So, it is a monster. Hey, just a little one. It is an affront to nature. It must be destroyed! Calm yourself, Captain Gantu. Perhaps it can be reasoned with. Experiment 626 give us some sign you understand any of this. Show us that there is something inside you that is good. Hmm? Meega, nala kweesta! So naughty! I didn't teach it that. Place that idiot scientist under arrest! I prefer to be called evil genius! And as for that abomination... it is the flawed product of a deranged mind. It has no place among us. Captain Gantu, take him away. With pleasure. Hmm. Uncomfortable? Oh... Good! The council has banished you to exile on a desert asteroid. So, relax... enjoy the trip and don't get any ideas. These guns are locked onto your genetic signature. They won't shoot anyone but you. Ow! Why, you...! May I remind the captain that he is on duty. Secure the cell! Aye, Captain. Captain on deck. All ahead full. Do... Does this, uh, look infected to you? Oh! Quiet, you. Gunfire in the cell bay! Open a channel. He's loose on Deck C! Red alert. Seal off the deck! Security, converge on door seven! Deadly force authorized. Fire on sight! There he is! Security to Bridge. It's in the ventilation system. He's headed for the power... grid. What was that? I don't think he's on the ship anymore. Confirmed. He's taken a police cruiser. Yeah... he took the red one. Yee-haw! Hmm?! That's it! We got it. We got it! Hyperdrive activated. System charging. He's engaged his H-drive! Warning-- guidance is not functional. Pursuit Commander that crazy trog is about to make a jump! Break formation! Get clear of that ship! Navigation failure. Do not engage hyper... Get me Galactic Control. Where is he?! He's still in hyperspace. Where will he exit? Calculating now-- quadrant section - - area . A planet called... Ee-arth. I want an expert on this planet in here now! What is that? Water. Most of the planet is covered in it. He won't survive in water. His molecular density is too great. No... Of course. How much time do we have? We have projected his landing at three hours, minutes. Oh, we have to gas the planet. Hold it! Hold everything! Earth is a protected wildlife preserve. Yeah. We've been using it to rebuild the mosquito population which, need I remind you, is an endangered species! Am I to assume you are the expert? Oh, I don't know about expert. Agent Pleakley at your service. Can we not simply destroy the island? No! Crazyhead! The mosquito's food of choice, primitive humanoid life forms have colonies all over that planet. Are they intelligent? No, but they're very delicate. In fact, every time an asteroid strikes their planet they have to begin life all over. It's fascinating, isn't it? With this, I've been able to study... What if our military forces just landed there? Well, that'd be a bad idea! These are extremely simple creatures, miss. Landing there would create mass mayhem and planet-wide panic! A quiet capture would require an understanding of - - that we do not possess! Who, then, Mr. Pleakley, would you send for his extraction? Does he have a brother? Close grandmother, perhaps? Friendly cousin? Neighbor with a beard? He got away? I'm sure this comes as no surprise to you. I designed this creature for to be unstoppable. Which is precisely why you must now bring him back. What? Me? And to reward you we are willing to trade your freedom for his capture. - - will not come easily. Maybe direct hit from plasma cannon might stun him long enough to... Plasma cannon granted. Do we have a bargain, Dr. Jumba? B-B-But it's a delicate planet! Who's going to control him? You will. I'm late because I had to go to the store and get peanut butter 'cause all we have is-is stinkin' tuna! Lilo, Lilo, why is this so important? Pudge controls the weather. You're crazy. Please! Please! Everybody calm down! Girls... Shh. Lilo... I'm sorry! I'm sorry! I won't do it again! Maybe we should call your sister. No! I'll be good! I want to dance. I practiced. I just want to dance. I practiced. Ooh, she bit me. Eww! I called your sister. She said to wait for her here on the porch. We'll try again on Sunday. Does this look infected to you? Yeah. You better not have rabies. Love... and nurturing. Hi. Uh... You must be the, uh... The stupidhead. Oh! Oh... Oh, you know, I'm really sorry about that and if I'd known who you were, of course I never would've... Uh... I can pay for that. It's a rental. Are you the guardian in question? Yes. I'm Nani. Nice to meet you, Mister...? Bubbles. Mr. Bubbles. That's a strange... Yes, I know. Are you going to invite me in, Nani? Uh... I thought we could sit out here and talk. I don't think so. Right. Uh... ...It's always crowded... This way. ...You still can find some room For brokenhearted lovers to cry away their gloom You make me so lonely, baby... Uh... wait here. Hey! So... lemonade? Do you often leave your sister home alone? No. Never. Well, except forjust now. Uh, I had to run to the store to get some... Oh! You left the stove on while you were out? Low heat! Just a simmer. Mmm! It's coming along great. I found that this morning. Lilo! There you are. Honeyface... this is Mr. Bubbles. Nice to meet you. Your knuckles say Cobra. Cobra Bubbles. You don't look like a social worker. I'm a special classification. Did you ever kill anyone? We're getting off the subject. Let's talk about you. Are you happy? I'm adjusted. I eat four food groups and look both ways before crossing the street and take long naps, and get disciplined. Disciplined? Yeah. She disciplines me real good. Sometimes five times a day. -With bricks. -No... Bricks? Uh-huh, in a pillowcase. Okay! That's enough sugar for you. Why don't you run along, you little cutie. The other social workers just thought she was a scream. Thirsty? Let me illuminate to you the precarious situation in which you have found yourself. I am the one they call when things go wrong and things have indeed gone wrong. My friends need to be punished. Call me next time you're left here alone. Yep. In case you're wondering, this did not go well. You have three days to change my mind. -Blah. -Eww! Lilo! Why didn't you wait at the school? You were supposed to wait there! Lilo! Do you not understand? Do you want to be taken away? Answer me! No! No, you don't understand? No! No, what? No! You're such a pain! So why don't you sell me and buy a rabbit instead?! At least a rabbit would behave better than you! Go ahead! Then you'll be happy because it'll be smarter than me, too! And quieter! You'll like it, 'cause it's stinky, like you! Go to your room! I'm already in my room! Hey. I brought you some pizza, in case you were hungry. We're a broken family, aren't we? No. Maybe, a little. Maybe a lot. I shouldn't have yelled at you. We're sisters. It's ourjob. Yeah, well, from now on... I like you better as a sister than a mom. Yeah? And you like me better as a sister than a rabbit, right? Oh... Oh, oh, oh, oh. Yes. Yes, I do. I hit Mertle Edmonds today. You hit her? Before I bit her. You bit her. Lilo, you shouldn't... People treat me different. They just don't know what to say. I'll tell you what. If you promise not to fight anymore I promise not to yell at you, except on special occasions. Tuesdays and bank holidays would be good. Yeah? Would that be good? Oh! My camera's full again. Aren't they beautiful? A falling star! I call it! Get out! Get out! I have to make a wish! Can't you go any faster? Oh, no! Gravity is increasing on me. No, it's not! It is, too, Lilo. The same thing happened yesterday. You rotten sister! Your butt is crushing me! Why do you act so weird?! It's me again. I need someone to be my friend... someone who won't run away. Maybe send me an angel... the nicest angel you have. What we when hit? There it is. It stay jammed under the fender. We better call somebody. We're looking for something that can defend itself... something that won't die... something sturdy, you know? Like a lobster. Lilo, you lolo. Do we have a lobster door? No. We have a dog door. We are getting a dog. So nice to see your pretty face again! Jumba? We need your name and address at the bottom of the form... The kennel's back this way. Go. Pick someone out. Hello? Hello?! Are there any aminals in here? Hello! Hi. Hoh... ha... Hi... Wow! Oh, yes. Mm-hmm. All of our dogs are adoptable. Except that one! What is that thing?! A dog, I think. But it was dead this morning. It was dead this morning?! Well, we thought it was dead. It was hit by a truck. I like him! Come here, boy. Oh! Aah! Wouldn't you like a different dog? We have better dogs, dear. Not better than him. He can talk! Say hello. He... Hel... Dogs can't talk, dear. He did. Does it have to be this dog? Yes, he's good. I can tell. You'll have to think of a name for him. His name is... Stitch. Now, that's not a real name... Hmm. Uh-uh, uh-uh-uh. ...in Iceland... but here, it's a good name. Stitch it is. And there's a two dollar license fee. I want to buy him! Can I borrow two dollars? He's all yours. You're all mine. Well, what's he doing? Shh! Keep quiet. He's listening for us. How good is his hearing? I mean, can he... Why don't you run? Coming! I'm coming! Stop! I have just determined this situation to be far too hazardous! Don't worry, I won't hit her. No! That girl is a part of the mosquito food chain. Here! Educate yourself. Using a little girl for a shield. This is low, even for you! Whoo-hoo! Bah! Tear him apart with all both my bare hands! Have you lost your mind?! What is it, Stitch? We cannot be seen! Bad dog, barking at nothing! You can't shoot, and you can't be seen. Look at you! You look like a monster. We have to blend in. Okay, I got to get to work. Stick around town and stay out of the roads, okay? I'll meet you at : . Hmm? Oh! Ah! Okay, I guess we should be going. What about Stitch? My friends! What do you want? I'm sorry I bit you and pulled your hair and punched you in the face. Apology not accepted. Now get out of my way before I run you over. I got a new dog. His name is Stitch. That is the ugliest thing I have ever saw. -Yeah. -Yeah. Eww! Get it away from me! I'm gonna get a disease! Somebody do something! Oh, great! He's loose. His destructive programming is taking effect. He will be irresistibly drawn to large cities where he will back up sewers reverse street signs and steal everyone's left shoe. It's nice to live on an island with no large cities. Are you okay? Doo-doo... Doo-doo... You can shake an apple off an apple tree Shake-a, shake-a, sugar, but you'll never shake me -Uh-uh-uh -Doo-doo-doo No, siree, uh-uh... When you're ready to give up just let us know, heh? Whee! ...Uh-uh-uh... Yeah! This is you. This is your badness level. It's unusually high for someone your size. We have to fix that. Ay-yi-yi, Lilo! Your dog cannot sit at the table. Stitch is troubled. He needs desserts. Oh, you didn't even eat your sweet potato. I thought you liked them. Desserts! David! I got a new dog. Oh! You sure it's a dog? Uh-huh. He used to be a collie before he got ran over. Yum! Hey... Blah! Eww! Howzit, Nani? Did you catch fire again? Nah, just the stage. Listen, I was wondering if you're not doing anything this... David, I told you, I can't. I... I got a lot to deal with right now. I know. I just figured you might need some time... Be careful of the little angel! It's not an angel, Lilo. I don't even think it's a dog. We just have to take him back. He's just cranky because it's his bedtime. He's creepy, Lilo. I won't sleep while he's loose in the house. You're loose in the house all the time and I sleep just fine! Hey, what are you doing? Stop that, Stitch! Hey! Look at him, Lilo. He's obviously mutated from something else. We have to take him back. He was an orphan and we adopted him! What about O'hana? He hasn't been here that long. Neither have I. Dad said O'hana means family. Huh? O'hana means family. Family means... ...nobody gets left behind. Or...? Or forgotten. I know. I know. I hate it when you use O'hana against me. Mmm. Don't worry, you can sleep right next to me. Look how curious the puppy is. This is my room, and this is your bed. This is your dolly and bottle. See? Doesn't spill. I filled it with coffee. Good puppy. Now get into bed. Hey! That's mine! Down! Mmm! Be careful of that! You don't touch this! Don't ever touch it! No! Don't pull on her head! She's recovering from surgery. No! And they like me! They're nuzzling my flesh with their noses. Now they're, um, they're.... I think it might be a koala. An evil koala. I can't even pet it. It keeps staring at me, like it's going to eat me. Hello? Nani? Hello? Are you there? Now, this is interesting. What? - - was designed to be a monster but now he has nothing to destroy. You see, I never gave him a greater purpose. What must it be like to have nothing... not even memories to visit in the middle of the night? Nah! Hmm. Hmm... That's the Ugly Duckling. See? He's sad because he's all alone and nobody wants him but on this page, his family hears him crying and they find him. Then the Ugly Duckling is happy because he knows where he belongs. Hmm... We lost Stitch! Lilo? Lilo, look at me. Look at me, baby. Are you hurt? No. He's unconscious, but I think he's alive. David, take Lilo. This isn't what it looks like. We were... It-It's just that... I know you're trying, Nani but you need to think about what's best for Lilo... even if it removes you from the picture. I'll be back tomorrow morning for Lilo. I'm sorry. Nani? Is there something I can do? No, David. Uh, I need to take Lilo home now. We have a lot to talk about, Lilo. Thanks. You know, I really believed they had a chance. Then you came along. Lilo, honey... we have to, uh... Don't worry. You're nice, and someone will give you a job. I would. Come here. Aloha Oe, Aloha Oe E ke onaona noho i ka lipo One fond embrace, a ho'i a'e au Until we meet again. That's us before... It was rainy, and they went for a drive. What happened to yours? I hear you cry at night. Do you dream about them? I know that's why you wreck things and push me. Our family's little now and we don't have many toys but if you want, you could be part of it. You could be our baby and we'd raise you to be good. O'hana means family. Family means nobody gets left behind but if you want to leave, you can. I'll remember you, though. I remember everyone that leaves. L... L... Lost. I'm lost. Help! I don't like the ocean! Oh, look, a friendly little dolphin. They helped sailors in the war... It's a shark! It's a shark, and it ain't friendly! It looks like a dolphin. Tricky fish! Tricky fish! Oh, octopus, come and help me? An octo... octopus is worse than a shark! I hate this planet! Oh... little monster! Uh, Agent Pleakley here. I have lost patience with you both. Have you captured - - or not? Um... Uh-uh... Consider yourselves fired and prisonbound. Uh, Jumba and Pleakley. Whatever. The mission is in jeopardy. This could be your chance to redeem yourself, Captain Gantu. How soon will you be prepared to leave? Immediately. Don't run. Don't make me shoot you. You were expensive. Yes. Yes, that's it. Come quietly. Mm... waiting. For what? Family. Ah! You don't have one. I made you. Oh... maybe I could... You're built to destroy. You can never belong. Now come quietly and we will take you apart. No, no, no, no, don't, don't run! Don't run! Lilo. I didn't hear you get up. Baby, what's wrong? Stitch left. Really? It's good he's gone. He didn't want to be here, anyway. We don't need him. Lilo... sometimes you try your hardest but things don't work out the way you want them to. I tried to give you my good looks but let's face it, something went wrong. No! Quick! Follow me! If we make it to... You're alive! They're all over the place! Running away? Here... let me stop you. You always get in the way! Where's the girl? What have you done to the girl? Hello? Cobra Bubbles? Aliens are attacking my house. No, no, no! No aliens! Blue punch buggy! No punch back. They want my dog! There's no need to alert the authorities. Everything's under control. Lilo, who was that? Oh, good, my dog found the chainsaw. Lilo! Don't hang...! Ha! You shouldn't play with guns. Oh, okay. Thank you. Oh, I just remembered. It's your birthday! Happy birthday! Merry Christmas! It's not Christmas. Happy Hanukkah! We're leaving Stitch? Trust me. This is not going to end well. -One potato. -Two potato. -Three potato. -Four. -Five potato. -Six potato. Seven potato, more. My... mother... told... me... you... are... it. Oh, I win! Thanks. Mahalo plenty. You won't be disappointed. I'll show up early to help with the morning deliver... Oh, don't turn left. No. One of them had a giant eye in the middle of his face. Oh, Lilo! Please don't do this. You know I have no choice. No! You're not taking her! I'm the only one who understands her! You take that away, she won't stand a chance! You're making this harder than it needs to be. But you don't know what you're doing! She needs me! Is this what she needs?! It seems clear to me that you need her a lot more than she needs you. Lilo! Lilo! -Lilo! -Lilo! Lilo! -Lilo! -Lilo! You ruined everything. You're one of them? Ooh! Get out of here, Stitch. Surprise! And here I thought you'd be difficult to catch. Ho-ho-ho. Silly me. Lilo? Lilo! There you go, all buckled up for the trip. And look-- I even caught you a little snack. No! Stop! Lilo. Aah! Okay, talk. I know you had something to do with this. Now where is Lilo? Talk! I know you can. Okay, okay. Where's Lilo? Lilo... Now all your washing is up! You're under arrest! Read him his rights. Listen carefully. Hello? Galactic Command? Experiment 626 is in custody. We'll wait right here. Huh? Don't interact with her. Where's Lilo? Who? What?! Lilo... my sister. Uh, sorry, we do not know anyone by this, uh... Lilo! She's a little girl-- this big! She has black hair and brown eyes and she hangs around with that thing! Uh... We know her. Bring her back. Oh, we can't do that. Uh-uh. That would be a misuse of Galactic resources. See, problem is... we're just here for him. So she's gone? Look at the bright side. You won't have to yell at anyone anymore. Come. O'hana. Huh? Hey! Get away from her. No! What did you say? O'hana means family. Family means... ...nobody gets left behind. Or forgotten. Yeah. Hey... What?! After all you put me through you expect me to help you just like that?! Just like that?! Ih.
Reducing an entire letter down to modus ponens? For a logic essay, I have to reduce an entire letter down to modus ponens. However, I don't really see how I can do such a thing: it seems like there is more than one modus ponens argument depending on how you interpret the letter, or which paragraph you read. How would you do it? Here is the letter: Senate Bill, 2906 allowing local regulation of pit-bull ownership is a marvelous piece of legislation. One problem I see with the bill is that it does not go far enough. Dog owners are under the misguided impression that their dogs are "human" and therefore have the same rights as humans. Dog owners must realize that dog ownership is a revocable privilege and not a right. The problems created by the existence of domestic dogs in our communities are pandemic. The elderly and the public at large are intimidated by and defenseless against dogs being walked on long leashes and those that roam freely on our streets. Dog waste is left behind or discarded in plastic bags into the pub lic sewer systems, clogging the drain basins. Not to mention the excessive barking that selfishly disrupts the quality of life of all. In almost all cases, domestic dog ownership is purely for the gratification of the dog owner and rarely provides any positive contribution toward improving the quality of life for their neighbors. In fact, it only serves to place their neighbors at risk. Toleration of the "involuntary" exposure to the health and safety risks caused by domestic dogs can be juxtaposed to the issue of "second hand smoke" being tolerated by nonsmokers. The citizenry of all communities must support Senate Bill 2906. The bill should be amended to place restrictions on dogs like those imposed on smokers. Dogs of all breeds should be restricted to their owners' homes or to areas not utilized by the general public. How about this? (1) If dogs of all breeds are a threat to -- or have more of a negative than positive impact on -- society, then dogs of all breeds should be restricted to their owners' homes or to areas not utilized by the general public. (2) Dogs of all breeds are a threat to -- or have more of a negative than positive impact on -- society. So, (3) Dogs of all breeds should be restricted to their owners' homes or to areas not utilized by the general public.

Finding a job in Boston? Well I have exhausted every effort I can think of searching for a job in Boston - where I currently reside - and have stretched my arm out to every resource and network I have, including monster.com, bostonrecruiter.com, craigslist.com, 2 different staffing agencies, friends, family, random people I meet at public places, as a "walk-in", etc. I'm a 2008 grad of Ohio University with a B.S. in Industrial Technology with a focus on Manufacturing Information Technology and a minor in Business Management. I don't necessarily want to work in that career field, but I will take what I can get. I would like to go back to school for my Masters in another field. For now, I cannot seem to grasp any real job leads, and when and if I do, they are already taken or responded to by the hundreds/thousands of unemployed citizens of Boston metro. Even labor/bartending/hospitality/construction/concierge/landscaping opportunities are either taken already, or they have so many applicants that have replied, they can be "choosy" on whom they want to employ. I know that there are unemployed people out there with their Masters and even Doctorates looking for work, even labor jobs, just to pay the bills. My question is, is there anyone, ANYONE, that may have somewhat of a job lead for this individual? It's pretty bold and drastic to ask such a question on here, and I don't want to sound "desperate", but let's face it, I am, and so are hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of Americans. Here's my resume and skills. Let me know what you think, thanks everyone. Septic tank odor on Mondays? We have a septic system for household waste. On Mondays, my wife does the whole weeks wash, and ONLY on Mondays do we notice a sewer odor in the home. Any ideas of what is going on?
HAVING DIFFICULTY UNDERSTANDING THE PHILIPPINE TECHNOLOGY? Per messages received, still the scientific community is facing a blank wall for they could not decipher & perceive the teachings of the author Winston Kayanan. The Philippine technology is anchored on organic matter cycling, taught in high school and easy to understand which requires no further explanation. As such, the author believes that the key players in the environment (attacking global warming & climate change) should rather be soil scientists, agriculturists, foresters than environment scientists. But for the benefit of all, following are the salient features of this multi-purpose & multi-benefit Philippine technology known as implantation (performing on a hectare daily) via organic matter cycling, to wit: a)Recapturing carbon roughly at 656.25 metric tons per hectare a day. Purpose is to bring back carbon to its domicile which is the land, a major component of the soil. b)Recapturing carbon compounds (such as carbohydrates, fats, oils, proteins & other related substances like waxes, terpenes, etc.) roughly at the same amount 656.25 metric tons per hectare a day. Purpose is to enrich & nourish the land for tree plantation or vegetation. c)Recapturing large amounts of CO2 by way of microbial action of photosynthetic bacteria and production of chlorophyll to carry on & sustain the process of photosynthesis) at 900 quadrillion metric tons per hectare a day. Purpose is to reduce excess or freed carbon in the atmosphere, causing heat & climate change. d)Releasing large amounts of O2 likewise in the same amount of 900 quadrillion metric tons per hectare a day. This has varied purposes like to cool air (like neutralizing methane), repair ozone layer, strengthen the immune system of organisms, rebuild melted glaciers, and many more. Production of such volume is extremely necessary because large volume is required to repair all in the scalding environment. For example, the third ozone hole that appeared in 2005 has an area of 25 million sq. kilometers which is about the same size of North America. e)Recovering & stabilizing water at 4,375 metric tons per hectare a day. Purpose is to develop groundwater & aquifer and to maintain wetlands such as streams, rivers and lakes. f)Recapture nitrogen, not quantifiable being volatile. Purpose is to help crops & trees grow. g)Develop beneficial microorganisms having natural pesticide capabilities such as mychorrizae. Purpose is to kill pathogens & non-pathogens coming from urban wastes. The above will only be realized by collecting & burying biomass in the subsoil down to 10 feet or 3 meters of a wasteland. The biomass would include post harvest waste materials from farms (such as corn, rice, etc.) urban wastes like left over foods & other perishable goods, farm wastes (like hogs, poultry, cattle, etc.), sewer & sludge, some agro-industrial wastes (like feed mill, rice mill, etc.), agro-commercial wastes (such as processed foods in dairy, meat products, etc.) and many more. The purpose of the depth is for space of roots of trees to grow and absorb organic matters’ nutrients once the planted trees are maturing (after full rehabilitation). CO2 & O2 could reach this depth. Illustration of letters ‘a’ & ‘e‘ (see above) undergoing decomposition: Total Vol. of Biomass (Fresh Weight) per HA. 6,250 MT Less: Average Volume of Water Content, say 70% 4,375 MT Est. Net Vol. of Biomass (Humus Dry Weight) per Ha. 1,875 MT Multiply: Average Volume of Carbon Content, say 35% Est. Ave. Vol. of Pure Carbon Retrieved per Ha. 656.25 MT The 6,250 MT would more or less be equivalent in weight to 28,000 (500-pounder) trees and hence, one can already imagine large production of chlorophyll under the soil by microbial action and the penetration of the sun. Collection of such volume requires coordination with farm owners. In some instances, other countries (like Afghanistan, Pakistan, China, Russia or in the middle east) having less agriculture & forestry resources (i.e., nil or less waste materials) would require importation of large volume of biomass.
Can someone help me write a persuasive essay? Its about why people should buy Charmin toilet paper. Here is what my essay needs to include: 1st paragraph - (i forget) 2nd paragraph - reasons 3rd paragraph - emotional appeal, rational appeal, answering the opposition, predicting the consequences 4th paragrah - strong conclusion Here's my notes: Charmin is safe for sewers and septic systems. Charmin is super soft, non irritating to skin, safe for pipes ans septic tanks, strong, absorbant, reasonably priced. Buying Charmin MegaRoll actually helps save the planet. Bigger rolls mean less packaging and waste. I also have to include facts, appeals, statistics and examples. Please, Please help me. I really need to raise my English grade.
Bottle water vs. filter tap? Someone please help! I don't want to buy bottle water anymore because of all the recent news about bpa and toxins in plastic bottling. I have an infant and 3 year old and I am very concerned about the safety of their water. I wanted to get a water filter but lately read that ALL of U.S. water systems contain tons of pharmaceutical drugs that cause potentially dangerous side effects from long-term low dose exposure, Apparenttly the drugs come from sewer water that is pipe back anf filtered into tap water except that the city's filtering process does not recognize nor remove the drug substances. I'm having a huge headache now trying to decide what I can do to provide the best water for my children. I've heard that reverse osmosis system removes the drugs but they cost a lot and wastes up to 6 gallons of water to produce 1 gallon of drinking water...not very environmentally friendly for me. Anyone have any better ideas? thanks! and for those who don't know about the prescription drugs in our water just google it...it's the latest thing...anything from aspirin to chemo drugs...research is still little but many say it has dangerous effects over long periods of exposure.
Do you think they should legalize pot? With the economy in the sewer like it is, I think now would be a perfect time to legalize pot. I think they should legalize gambling, prostitution, and pot and then tax the bejesus out of them. They still should be regulated of course. Brothels should still be in red light districts. I say they should legalize all the drugs, filter them down, and tax the hell out of them. I know what some of you might be thinking. You think that sounds crazy! Well if you think long and hard enough actually it doesn't. Most drugs out there won't do anything to you that alcohol won't do. One way we got out of The Great Depression was by repealing Prohibition. If the drugs aren't pure and they're chopped down, they're not as potent. Are we forgetting that Heath Ledger OD'd on prescription drugs? All those date rape drugs like roofies and Special K? Those are legal drugs. They're horse tranquilizers. Pure tobacco is also a strong hallucinogen. Morning glories, datura, belladonna, gypsum, and mandrake are legal. Those are what are used to make LSD. The drug laws are really nothing more than retroactive Jim Crow laws. They're just another way to keep minorities down. I'd say legalize and regulate them across the board, tax the dickens out of them, and take all that extra revenue we're wasting on the drug war and the penal system and we could probably pay off a huge portion of the debt we're in. Did you know at least 80 percent of all the prisoners in prisons are first time non-violent drug offenders? They need to put violent criminals and sex offenders behind bars. It would actually be cheaper to give the drug offenders treatment than it would be to incarcerate them. Further, the crime rate in this country would be at a record low. You can say whatever you want people. The fact is I happen to be a former member of the U.S. Coast Guard. I know from first-hand experience that the drug war is a lost cause. While I was in the Guard, I remember my unit busting 5 other Coasties, 2 DEA agents, and 3 US Customs agents running their own drug ring in the Greater Washington DC area. The demand is too high. Most addicts aren't hurting anybody but themselves, and like I said if you CHOP IT DOWN to where the drugs aren't as pure, they aren't as potent. Therefore, they aren't as dangerous. As far as medical purposes are there, Alyssa, what the hell do you think novocain is made from? What about Vicodin? They're both made from cocaine. You know Bret Favre was addicted to Vicodin. How do you think he managed to stay in the NFL so long without ever getting injured? Of course nobody ever made a big deal about that because he was rich and white. Just like Rush Limbaugh, they swept his addiction under the rug. I can guarantee you if he was poor and black, Bret Favre would be in the state pen right now. So would Rush Limbaugh, too, if he was poor and black.
Waste water keeps coming back through my furnace overflow pipe!? I have a sump pump system in the house I just bought. We wouldn't have bought this house if there were knowingly sewage problems. The home inspection report said everything was ok. Same when Sears came and installed the washing machine, ran a cycle, and everything was ok. For the last month we've been working on the house the plumbing has never given us any problems. Well, there were some plumbers digging new lines for a house being moved to the empty lot next door last Friday. On the Sunday after we found out now OUR plumbing is screwed up: Whenever I run the washing machine, the sump pump trap fills up, pumps it out, when it fills back up again quickly, it can't pump it out and it sprays out all over my unfinished bathroom in our basement! (our furnace is on the main floor, so the open pipe is right up next to the ceiling, and soaks my subfloor). It doesn't do this with running faucets or flushing the toilets. We called the city to be sure the main sewer line wasn't collapsed. It's fine. So, we had a plumber in here Monday to "jet" out whatever blockage may be causing the backup. He tested it, everything checked out fine. Now it's doing it again 2 days later. The plumber said he can almost guarantee it's because of tree roots. I don't think it's a coincidence that the neighbors did new lines and suddenly we're having problems when everything was fine for the last month. Does anyone know what this could be? (Just so we're clear, I will be using a tree root killer tonight before I go to bed. Also, I'm probably going to be calling the plumber back tomorrow to do a camera inspection). I don't think you can sue a home inspector in Nebraska. You're hiring him and taking his advice at your own discretion. Besides, all the other loads of laundry I did before the neighbors dug new pipes did not cause any problems.
Does our govt care about the $1.6 trillion it will cost to repair infrastructures illegals destroyed? INVASION USA Immigrants ravage U.S. infrastructure Financial cost: $1.6 trillion required to repair devastation Posted: January 15, 2009 By Chelsea Schilling © 2009 WorldNetDaily The United States will need $1.6 trillion to repair damage to its infrastructure from a massive influx of immigrants, a new report reveals. In his report titled, "The Twin Crises: Immigration and Infrastructure," prominent researcher Edwin S. Rubenstein examines 15 categories of infrastructure: airports, border security, bridges, dams and levees, electricity (the power grids), hazardous waste removal, hospitals, mass transit, parks and recreation facilities, ports and navigable waterways, public schools, railroads, roads and highways, solid waste and trash, and water and sewer systems.
What do advocates for open borders say about this U.S. Infrastructure Overwhelmed by Influx of Illegals? Immigration policies need to go hand-in-hand with decisions to repair the deteriorating U.S. infrastructure, according to The Twin Crises: Immigration and Infrastructure, a unique new report by Edwin S. Rubenstein to be released at a News Conference at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C. at 1 p.m. on January 13. The report is being published by the Social Contract Press. Immigration will be responsible for more than 80 percent of the spending needed to expand infrastructure capability between now and mid-century, according to the report. Ed Rubenstein examines 15 categories of infrastructure: airports, border security, bridges, dams and levees, electricity (the power grids), hazardous waste removal, hospitals, mass transit, parks and recreation facilities, ports and navigable waterways, public schools, railroads, roads and highways, solid waste and trash, and water and sewer systems. The American Society of Civil Engineers estimates that $1.6 trillion dollars is needed to repair and maintain U.S. infrastructure in the next 5 years. The massive influx of immigrants into the U.S. is increasing the demands on an overburdened infrastructure, much of which was built shortly after World War II and is outdated and deteriorating. http://news.yahoo.com/s/usnw/20090109/pl_usnw/new_report__u_s__infrastructure_overwhelmed_by_influx_of_immigrants
Why doesn't anyone ever ask the question; "What happens when we flush?"? Everyone is so concerned with environmental issues today, but no one ever addresses the biggest concern, which is human waste in the form of sewage. What we flush down the toilets are everything from our fecal matter, to cigarette butts, cat litter, hair dye, even medications that we take are present in our excrement. The result of it all; sludge. Sludge is distributed across Canada as fertilizer for free, and it 's also packaged and sold as fertilizer in hardware stores. There are alternatives to a sewer system, that are fully functional and would create all sorts of jobs if made mandatory by government. Composting toilets take about five years to start creating fertilizer. It holds urine and feces in separate compartments, and when the fecal matter has broken down with time, then the urine is allowed to pass through and it neutralizes its toxicity, and makes great fetilizer. The earth is our resposibility now that we understand the consequences to pollution. Septic sytems do not help, the waste matter ends up with the same outcome. And our modern sewage systems are built with the exact same properties as the blue prints of sewer systems from ancient Rome, just on a bigger scale. Because a composting toilet neutralizes the toxicity of our human waste, and regulates what goes into it. Septic tanks are completely unprocessed and inefficient, they are virtually the same as sewer systems, because the waste matters are mixed inside.
Funeral Home and Human Waste....? A sewer line in my city stopped up and had to be unclogged by a jet machine....., the line leads to the funeral home. Literally, blood and guts bubbled out of the line. Is this legal? Can funeral homes legally wash human organs down the public sewer system? No, this actually happend yesterday. My concern is for the workers who should never ever be exposed to such waste.
Point source or non-point source of pollution ..? An ocean tanker spills thousands of liters of oil. Oil and grease run-off from city streets. Fertilizer from farms leaks to rivers. A landfill leaks toxins into groundwater systems. Industrial waste flows thought storm sewers into rivers.
