Plumbing question (Sewer line)?
I have 10 apartments and my sewer line backed up. I have a commerical snake (100 feet), tried it 3 times still would not open. Will a commercial snake work on grease? Thanks.

- Call a plumber
- Are you hooked up to city or a community sewer? Or, are you on your own treatment system? If you are on community or city sewer, it could be that the backflow preventer at the end of your line, before it meets the sewer main, could be clogged or stuck closed. Maybe you have an inspection point. If not you would need to dig it up or expose the backflow preventer. Also, could be that you are not using enough sewer snake. Try 50 more feet, etc....The other problem might be in the community system. It could be clogged after your line.Give them a call. Good luck and Happy Holidays to you!.......................
- put every tenant on scott tissue,i am not joking,i had a sewer problem that only manifested itself when i used cheap tissue ,i switched to scott no more clogs....i don't work there.......... have you tried a garden hose turn the water on full and shove it as far as you can .you might get the city to check for a clear sewer line .
- sometimes also if it is grease when you snake out the pipe and pull out the snake the grease will close back up in the pipe. you may have to get a plumber with a Camera and check it out.
- The snake will not work well on grease. Are you thinking you may have a grease problem? Did the snake penetrate to the full length of the unit? Is there another cleanout available to snake the line the other direction? Are you using any particular head on the snake? Need more info here to really offer good advice.
