About how much should it cost to have my main sewer line drain unclogged?
I tried a drain snake myself today, but the clog is too deep and I can't reach it. I need to call a plumber tomorrow, but I am pretty sure my drain just needs to be cleared with an electric drain snake. (I think there are old tampons in there.) I will probably call Roto Rooter or a local plumber. About how long will it take for them to unclog the drain, and about how much should it cost? I live in Auburn, WA- near Seattle.

- Probably about $100. It probably won't take an hour.
- Sometimes it can be around $300.00
- Most drains I clear cost around $100 to $150. If you have put tampons down it could be up to 3 or 4 hundred. Moral of the story is DO NOT PUT THOSE BLOODY THINGS DOWN THE DUNNY !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
- It can range from $100 to much more. I recently went through this with a house I just bought and the bill went up to $500 because they found a lot of roots that had penetrated the sewer line. Getting through the roots was very difficult it took about 2-3 hours to do. I payed $200 extra to have them map where the sewer line goes so I can replace the line later with PVC pipes. So $300 for snaking the line and $200 for the mapping.
- Septic systems consist of an underground holding tank and a drainage field. Sewage from the house is directed through the DWV system and into the septic tank. Once problems arise within a septic system, there isn’t much a homeowner can do, but being able to identify signs of trouble may prolong the life of your system and will probably save you some money.
- Roto Rooter is at my house now, I live in Seattle, and the price ranges from the upper $300s with clearout access to $500 if they need to use the vent in the roof.
- In Southern California, here are the 2 quotes I received this evening ....1. ARS Rescue Rooter quoted $358.50 to clean the main line. This was without a 'clean-out' valve, and they would go through the toilet. 2. Roto Rooter is here now and quoted $300 (and they will go from the roof).
