why can i smell sewer gas when my laundry machine drains on the second floor?
in my basement utility room i smell sewer gas (methane) only when cloths washer drains.. all traps have water in them and there are no open pipes anywhere.. its a mistery

- the only way to get a back vent is broken pipe or empty trap if you havent got a proper vent at the time washer is dumping the force will empty trap in the other fixtures is there a sink in utilty room if so ad a cheater vent to the drain
- the drain at the washer is not vented, when water goes down the drain it pushes air out the other drains, add a vent pipe to the main drain,
- Your air vent may be plugged.
