what can i do to get rid of a sewer gas scent under my crawl space?

i would like to know if there is any chemical that i could use to keep down the odor eminating from the crack sewer line. the crawl space is very small and low. i will eventually have to replace the line or patch it up

  1. Any chemical would only last until the next time you flushed the toilet. You need to fix. If just a small crack, you can get a patch kit to cover the crack.
  2. Try Lime we use it here in Texas and it works. The best solution is to repair your cracked pipe ASAP as the leak will not just cause odor, but also germ and bacteria release, that could be hazardous to your health.
  3. After getting the sewer pipe fixed, get some agricultural lime, and spread it in the crawl space. That will take care of the smell, but unless you fix the pipe, it won't help you.
  4. You should fix it, here's a good inexpensive way. Go to hardware store. You need a sheet of thin rubber( craft stores also have) get 2 large screw tightening clamps, large enough to go around pipe. Clean cracked area with wire brush, wrap rubber patch around and tighten clamps, should work for quite a while. ( I have done this)
  5. call a plumber..sewer gases can get so strong they will explode and will be like a bomb going off..seriously!!
