How do I locate a sewer gas leak?
I've already re-sealed the commode, and had a plumber do a smoke test. Neither did any good. The smell is only in one bathroom whihc has a common vent for dual sinks, commode, and bath.

- are there P-traps under the sinks? The smell could come from there, or out of the tub even. In older houses, they might have forgotten to put a trap under the tub.
- Sewer gas can only get into the house if there is no trap, or if the trap has no water. If you use the fixtures occasionally, it sounds as if you have no trap. If you can get under the house you could compare the sewer connection from your other fixtures with what you see here.
