Sewers

What are the causes of sewer gas entering the home?

  1. it may be that your p traps are empty. try pouring water down all your drains in the house including any floor drains
  2. The above answer is the most likely reason, if that doesn't work, time to get the plumbers in as they will know almost instantly.
  3. The vent stack could be blocked, I've seen birds build nests in them before.
  4. All the above look good. Also, when you are away for an extended period, say more than a week, stopper the drains to keep the "P" traps from drying out. Some people pour a little vegetable oil in the drains to prevent evaporation while they are away, however a stopper will work as well.
