Sewers

what should I do if my outside sewer pump is going off?

There are no phone numbers or information on the alarm or the sewer pump, and I can't find any info online. Help!?! If I could get away with fixing this without a plumber that would be good - my husband is the proud type.. And what would the plumber do to fix this?

  1. call a plumber before you get knee deep in in the brown stuff then you'll be sayin look what brown did for me
  2. call a local plumber or roto-rutter, you will have to pay time and half on a week-end call, but it is better then having the stuff back up in to your tub or sink....
  3. well in this case i agree with the others- time for the plumer
  4. There should be a little black ball in the sump, when the ball comes up the pump goes on, when the ball goes down the pump goes off, possible the ball is stuck, or switch inside the ball stuck. + Wires two, go to pump, one wire goes to ball first, see if ball float is stuck, lift the ball with a rake or something, if you can get hold of it, tilt it, wire should go into the top. Or it could be just the alarm where you have the problem, in that case, there are also 2 wires in the ball for the alarm.
  5. there are 2 floats in the sump. float 1 turns the pump on and off float 2 turns the alarm on when something is wrong and the sump is over filled. you can fix this yourself if you know what the problem is. but remember 1 thing, the over full alarm is going off that means there is 6' of crap in the bottom. Is that something you really want to tackle
