What can i use to stop the tree roots from clogging the sewer line other than getting rid of the tree?

- Lilly, that's how Roto-Rooter got started, by using a device that chops into the roots that have entered sewer lines so they can be washed away into the sewer system. Usually the tree does fine afterward, although new roots may grow where the old ones were. Call them, or any of their competitors.
- You have to replace with ABS pipe lillie. Otherwise they will grow back into the teracota even if you get them out. If they have grown into the teracota then you have holes or gaps in your mains somewhere. The hole thing is not good. Seriously consider whether you want to spend a lot of money on getting the roots drilled out - if that is even possible - or save to replace with ABS pipe. The roots won't get through ABS.
- get some liquid fire at a hardware , pour down drain it will kill the roots
- there area several types of root killers you can buy for a sewer line check you local home improvement or garden store. some you just flush down the toilet and wait a while like overnight for them to work
- The best way to overcome the problem of tree roots is to first professionally have your sewer line snaked out After that, it is a maintenance issue that is solved by monthly administration of H2SO4, an acid found in most all root killer crystals products. You simply pour a cup full in the toilet once a month and flush late at night when usage is minimul. I have one house I rent that my tenant adds each time they pay the rent. For 5 years now no problems. Prior to this program I was routing out the line 3-4 times/ yr. This of course is treating the symptom, a band-aid so to speak. The replacement of the tile in this case is rather expensive $1500+since the line is under a stairway and sidewalk. I can buy lot of root killer for that kind of money
- Try a product called Root b Gone. It contains copper sulfate which is poisonous to the trees. It will kill the growth of the roots and, with regular application, discourage any further root growth.
