Sewers

How can I fix a clogged vent pipe for my sewer system?

The drains gurgle after flushing the toilet.

  1. You need to go on the roof with a plumbing snake and push the blockage into the main pipe.
  2. If the toilet works properly, I would try to be happy with that and learn to live the gurgling....because...about 1/3 of the toilets that i find "gurgling" need a bigger DWV pipe (insufficient venting) to cure said gurgling. The other two thirds can typically be cured by clearing out the vent, from the top, where it exits the roof. Look in it first. If you can see something blocking it (like a birds nest), pull it out. If you can't see anything, run water down it with a garden hose.
  3. You need to get a snake in from the DWV (Drain Waste Vent) on the roof or if you have a clean out on the pipe. At least a 65ft line.
  4. Sorry to say but you will pro ably need a roto rutter. At walmart they have some powerful drain cleaner called Red Devil...by it still gurgling it might break threw ~~~Good Luck~~~
