Softball in sewer line!!?

My son dropped a softball in our sewer line in the backyard, now our drains inside are clogging up. My husband has tried sticking the hose of a shop vac down in there to try to suction it out, but he had no luck. Does anyone have any ideas to try to get this out on our own without having to call a plumber?

  1. you could try a wire hanger with a big ball of duct tape on the end. sticky sides out. but if the tape gets wet it will not be sticky...good luck
  2. In shooting black powder weapons sometimes we forget to put powder in. The ball will get jammed in the barrel. When this happens we use a tool called a Worm. It is a piece of metal shaped like a coarse cork screw. You can probably make one out of an 8 inch nail. Put it in the end of a broom handle and when you reach the ball turn it like you are putting a screw in a piece of wood. Patience, my dear....patience
  3. get a sewer snake and run it down there it might push it out
  4. Call the local pharmacy and tell them you want the strongest acid you can get that won't eat through PVC plastic (sewer pipe). I suspect it will be Mauriac acid. pour it in and wait for it to dissolve the rubber outer (or leather). eventually the ball will be dissolved enough to move on through the line.
  5. try the above. poking drilling hole hooking it best way. can use ro-go / strong acid. can get osh home depots. try on a ball to see if dissolves first. dont put acid down plugged pipes. if acid doesnt work makes clearing line misarable fumes etc. u can also rent a small or large sewer snake pretty easy to use. the rental yard will give u the best tip to take out or cut up the ball. probably alot cheaper than a plumber.
  6. Rent air compressor and blow it out..... Stand back its going to be messy..........
  7. geta LOOOOOONG drill bit. they sell em @ menards, start drilling into that damned thing slowly and when you get a good bite on it pull it out. wouldnt hurt to soak it first and after you drill it toss a little veggie oil down there to ease it out
