Sewer Pipe (Epoxy) Re-Lining - what is the cost?

We have a large section of our pipe from the house to the main line, that should be replaced and we were told that the (epoxy) relining would be much more affordable. But it's about $100 per foot, which includes all the costs and a 50 year warranty. I'm going to try to call and get other estimates from other plumming companies etc, if they will tell me, but I would like any input possible from other homeowners who have done this. And how strong are these "relined" pipes? If we use drano in a sink, will it be damaged? (Not that we should have clogged pipes again for a long time).

  1. should an need are to different things. who says the company will be around in fifty years by then something way more affordable and better. lining also doesnt cure any sloping, tree roots growing into around pipes, future clog(add CO pipes) size issues maybe house has been added on to. future additions.
  2. The clowns that stiff you for this will not be around to honor the warranty one year, let alone fifty. I fix garage doors, but any company that charges for an estimate should be ignored. Also make sure the sewer pipe is on your property, as your town might be liable for all or part of the cost. Get at least five estimates, and do not use anyone that works for your town, township, or county.
  3. cheaper to have the old dug up and replaced with PVC.
