While house hunting I saw a green tank in the basement that lead to a sewer pipe. (city sewer)What is it?

Is it a left over tank from a septic system. Or is this tank a good thing to have? If the power goes out will it stop working?

  1. OK, my guess is a sump tank. It's connected to a sump pump and when it reaches to certain level, it will turn on and pump all the sewage out. The sewer line to the street must be higher where the house sits. So the only way for the sewage water to flow out to the main line is thru a sump pump. and if the power is out...u have clogged toilet...lol
