What is needed for an upflow drain system for basement bath/laundry?

What is needed to flush and drain water into a sewer system that is halfway up the wall structure?

  1. Either a pump large enough to support the diameter of the pipe or... a seperate line directly to your sewer main.
  2. you need a motor pump with an automatic float switch.technically, i forgot how to explain it, but its like these;its like having a head and a feet.when theres no water to pump up,the feet is downward position. and as the water's going up , normally it will float and the position of head and feet will be reversed, making the feet on the upper portion and the head on the lower position.on that position the motor will start to pump up the water.but i think there's also two type of a float switch, technically its called the NORMALLY CLOSE and the NORMALLY OPEN.hope i've help u.
  3. A sump pump or grinder pump.
  4. We pumped from the washing machine/sink into over sized pail device with a built in pump up to the drain. It's a complete unit (Home Depot, Sears or any large Home improvement store or plumbing supply store. Ours lasted 12 years and is still working (rusty top and all).
