Is it possible to get a grant for home repair?
I had to have a plumbing co. come out to fix a back problem but come to find out the problem isn't located on my property. It starts where the line goes under the "city owned" street and comes back up to attach to the sewer lines. my house was built in 1970 and I think was one of the first few in the neighborhood.

- Contact the city, it doesn't seem to be a problem you can fix. I have heard of grants for increasing energy efficiency in older homes, have no idea on this one.
- Call the city public works department and tell them about the problem, it may be 'their' problem, but if they are like most municipalities it may take forever unless they are sued.
- Check your city, county, and state websites, there are grants available for homeowners. In this particular case, you need to get the city involoved to repair the problem. Building codes were relaxed in the 1970s and 1980s and alot of "corners were cut" that are causing problems today.
