washer drainage, i have city sewer and i live in an older house, where do i hook up the washer drain hose?
do i hook up the hose with the main sewer line that goes into the ground right by my washer, or do i drain it into a hole where water drains out if my basement floods, i dont have a sump pump.

- Do you have a laundry sink?
- if you have a washer hookup then you should have a washer drain next to it. a piece of pipe that sticks up about 3 feet from the floor that would be your drain
- It should drain into the sewer, if for no other reason, then because those floor drains in an old house often don't work too well. If you have a laundry sink, drain it into there, if you want to have it drain straight into the sewer via a pipe, you may have to call a plumber to set that up. Old plumbing can be tricky to work with for anyone but a pro.
- Sounds like you should use "the main sewer line that goes into the ground right by my washer." We lived in an old house that had no drains. Bought a longer hose for the washer and everytime we used it, ran the hose into the toilet.
