- Most sewerlines are now PVC. You need to check the size and make sure it complies with local Codes.
- Most cities will require you to install new 4" PVC pipe..starting at the end of the cast iron pipe that comes from your house a few inches from the foundation footing, to the city sewer line. Also..they will require you to pump the old tank & fill it with soil or sand. I worked with a contractor that did a large number of these.. City inspectors have to see the finished product & sign off before the new system is covered.
- you went to run a 6 in, pcv pipe to the house then put a j trape in the with a vent out then drop it to 4 in. going in the house. you will be ok that way.
- Most codes are the same when it comes to this....u probably already have a 4" sewerline going to ur septic tank......u will need it loose at the house the before u hook the sewerline up put in a cleanout....thats a fitting that allows u to get into the sewerline for maintenance in case of stoppages.....then tie ur sewerline into the out hub of that fitting....then run ur sewerline to the road at a grade that will allow fall to the road.....generally its about 1/8 inch per foot of fall for a 4" line.....then before u tie into the city tap u will need to install another cleanout there that way if the city's line ever stops up they will come clean that for you without charge....if u dont have one there u will have to have a plumber clean out the line from the one at ur house THEN u will have to add one later anyway......do that and u shouldnt have any problems
