Cost to have main sewer line cleaned, like Roto Rooter?
Having some plumbing problems. The shower and toilet will not drain at all, and when doing laundry the water backs up in to the shower. I've had this problem before, and it was due to clogged pipes - tree roots. Does anyone know how much it normally costs to have the main line cleaned (I do have a clean-out access outside). I've tried to look on Roto-rooter and similar websites, but nobody gives any kind of rough estimate.

- $80.00 ? I have to have it done about every three years.
- I had Rotorooter last week. There was a very small build up, and it only took the guys 20 minutes to clear. They charged me $149.00
- it depends where you live, call someone w/ small ad= less overhead=normally less cost, then get some Root KIll and put in spring and fall when roots are growing.197.50 and up in atlanta area.probably more on weekend
- Two years ago I had a system cleaned. Twenty five feet to the sewer main and Roto Rooter charged $380.00.
- I have several apartment buildings which I have to have this done every now and then. Roto Rooter is the company I used to use, but in the past couple of years, they've gone crazy with their pricing. Look in the phone book. Seems like everyone and their brother now does it. Depends on where you live, but here in Florida I now pay usually between $60.00 and 80.00 bucks. And make sure they give you a warranty on it. You'll probably only get a 30 day being as it's tree roots. Ask the plumber how far out the roots were and think about having it dug up and the drain tile replaced. Might save you money in the long run.
