  1. well first off if he did the job and completed it then he didn't breech the contract unless the contract says that the job will be done without property damage. Yes definitely report him to the BBB and get a lawyer. Hes obligated to repair the damage or paysomeone else to fix it. good luck.
  2. Hey, sorry to hear about the problem. I would really suggest you call and if you must leave a message. Tell him you give him a number of days to fill in the hole. Do you have any dirt he would be able to use?? If so tell him. Don't come across as mad but as needing to get it done and your worried about someone hurting themselves because of the hole. If that does not work, send letter that you will have it repaired and he will be sued for the cost. It seems a long way around but may work. In any case you most likely need to get it fixed soon,, let him know. Oldguy
  3. hi; I'm a master plumber. If the pipe is leaking his job is done poorly. However if there is ground water moving past pipe he is not reponsible. who dug the hole? did the plumber have a backhoe loader or was another company involved? was he paid in full? he might not want to respond if not. I'm sure he has many paying customers that call him first.the bbb will not affect him in the slightest way. When someones toilet blows up they take the first person who answers the phone they don't call the bbb for recomendations. you may end up with lawyer fees that are larger than a truckload of loam. However if the pipe leaks he is 100 percent liable for it. resolve it without fighting please.
  4. It sounds like he dug up and replaced the outside sewer line. Did you have a written or verbal contract with him and how long has the work been done. Is the sink hole the result of sewer water flowing out the sewer causing erosion or just wasn't back filled and compacted enough. You will get some sinking as the soil gets campacted over time. Nothing a little back fill won't cure. I sink hole is different. Have you notified the town Plumbing inspector or Board of Health, permits had to been pulled? If you can recall the times and dates you tried to contact him I would write them down for later use, because a month or so from now you may not remember. Was he payed in full? When you call, do you get his voice mail? Is he still in business at that address, and the phone is still connected? Have you talked to him and did not respond? You can send him a letter in the mail (certified) as to what your complaint is and what you need done to rectify this. Tell him that you have tried to contact him with no avail on several dates. Make sure that you put all telephone numbers (Cellular, house, wifes ) in there for him to call back. On the greetings of the letter have your name and address. Also send one to your self and don't open it upon delivery, but make a copy to put with the times and date you attempted to contact him
  5. Plumbers (and electricians) are not landscapers. We dig a trench, do our job, throw the dirt back in the trench, and collect our money. Call a landscaper. If the sewer line fails, call the plumber back. See if the contract says he will do the finish landscaping. You won't want to see the bill for a plumber to do your landscaping.
  6. It sounds like you need to go to small claims court and get it settled there. Bring all the information you can lay your hands on, even the slightest details and hope for the best..
