Sewer gas problem?

When it rains steady or harder sewer gas comes into the basement of the house via the small crack in the concrete floor around the waste stack any thoughts would help thanks

  1. You need to cut the concrete and repair the pipe, sewer gas contains methane gas which could ignite. If you can't do it call a plumber, your home owners insurance should cover it so call your agent.
  2. the first guy was right it might be a cracked pipe. however it might just be that the gas is leaking in around the pipe not necessarily from yours. try using some caulking around the pipe to help seal it up. but you should consult a plumber if in fact the pipe is broken.
