septic tank refilling from leech bed?
My 1000 gal septic tank works great all year except during heavy rain when the water table is the highest. When the water table is high the leech bed flows back into the tank with water. I believe i have some above ground issues with water runoff. I think my problem is coming from water following my sewer line from the house to the front of the tank and leeching under the tank to the leechbed and runoff. Is it possible that there is just to much ground water under any circumstance for any system to work at all.

- something could be blocking your leech field..i would call a septic person to come look at it..normally they wont charge you for an estimate....it may need to be pumped...
- Sounds like you are right as to the water table being to high. In Florida most leach/drain fields are built above ground. Sand is brought in and leveled out to the desired size and height. Then the rock and pipe and rock are laid, covered by a non penetrable cover and covered with dirt and sodded so as to stop the trenching down the sides when it rains. This is what you are looking at when you see large mounds of dirt in the yards of newer houses and some older if the leach field fails and has to be replaced. Because it is above ground it requires a 300 gal tank with a sump pump to be installed in order to pump the liquid into the leach field. Off of the top of my head this is all I can think of that is going to help. It's not to bad if you have access to the equipment and do it your self. It would be beneficial if you take care of it before code enforcement finds out and they get involved
- Sounds like poor placement of the septic tank/leach field. Hook onto city sewer if it is available.
