new house in country and we have a sand sewer system???
I have never before heard of it before and was wondering if anyone else had and what it is and is it costly??? any help greatly appreciated, thanks:)

- This is probably something you would have wanted to check into BEFORE moving into your new house in the country. I have never heard of this type of septic system, and don't really understand how it might work, unless you actually have a septic tank and instead of a leach field you discharge into some type of sand bed. I would think the problem with this is the sand would become easily plugged and stop working. You would then have to dig up and replace the sand.
- never heard of it, maybe the sand is being used out in the leach field
- I've heard of septic tank systems called that in Florida. It means that the discharge area is in the sandy soil and perculates easily.
- the are called sand mound if it has a mound and a sand filter if it doesn't the tanks need to be pumped every three years and if it has a chlorine tank it has to be checked periodically if you have to install it could be costly but maintaining isn't too bad
