How does a septic system work?
After having a septic system drained, what is the next step in making it drain faster? It is draining far too slowly. Thanks for your answer...

- Septic tanks get rid of the liquid contents via the leach or drain field. This is a series of pipes that run down hill from the tank. Some solids will break down over time by decomposition. Some solids will not, particularly if you allow stuff like egg shells down the kitchen sink. The solids are pumped out every so often.
- a septic system is made up of a holding tank and a leaching field.when the sewerage comes out from the house it goes into the septic tank where the solids stay which are eventually pumped out and the liquids drain out through piping in to a d box (distribution box) from this several pipes with holes in them extend into your leaching field and absorbed into the sand and gravel that buries them.when new systems are put into place they usually make two leaching fields so when the one becomes used up you can use the other.if your system is draining slow your field may have run it's life try to find how old the system is and go from there with your local septic company for any advice
