Sewer Drain not clogged just standing water in the pipe and backs up after a few days?

  1. are you on a septic system? if so you need to get it pumped out
  2. I had the same problem and got a plumber to come out. He got my lines unstopped and told me that in the future to keep the drains open just pour a half box of rock salt down the drain or in the toilet and it will eat all the lint and hair and roots that clog the drains.
  3. Sometimes it's tree roots too close to your sewer line that don't clog the line totally but slow it down (eventually the drains will stop all together). They have products at home depot and lowe's (some kind of powder with copper sulfate i think) that slows the root growth - but that is only temporary. You should get someone like Roto Rooter or rent a drain snake to snake the drain and your lines outside. We have to do this once a year because we have a big maple very close to the sewer lines - it's a pain in the patoot!!!
