Sewers

Can tree roots still grow without the tree or stump?

I recently cut the tree down and in the process of digging out the stump. The tree was clogging my sewer line.

  1. No,Because The Roots Bring Water To The Plant. If They Dont,They Die.
  2. yeah they can still grow cause as the tree grows up the roots grow down and if you didn't have the stump removed most likely a few months from now you would see a new tree trying to grow on top of the stump or next to it
  3. Yes, it can continue to grow. Since it is damaging your sewer line, which is very expensive, I would keep digging on down and try to remove the entire mess. The hard work is worth saving a buck, trust me I know. Good luck to you and kudos on being smarter than myself by taking care of the problem!!!
