How to clean jacuzzi tub on a septic system?

We just bought a new house and we love it but the jacuzzi tub jets (I am assuming) send gunk out in the water when used. I thought about bleach but bleach is not safe for septic systems. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance!!

  1. Bleach is not safe for sepic? What does the wife use when doing the laundry. Bleach. A lot of bleach is not good for the septic, gallons and gallons of the stuff. Smaller amounts are then mixed in with the septic tank waters 600-800 gallons so it is really dispersed. Follow up in a week with some Septonic(got at a grocery store down where the cleaners are)is(more septic tank bugs) to reinforce the action of the bugs that are still alive in there. No probs.
  2. What nonsense. Just use the bleach.
  3. Fill the tub with warm water. Add 1/2 cup bleach. Run for 10 -15 mins. Drain and refill with warm water run for 10 mins. Drain refill the tub with water add 2 tbs dishwasher detergent. Run 10-15 mins. Drain. Refill tub with warm water, run for 15 mins. Drain. Refill tub one more time run 10 mins. This should clear out that black gunk. If you still have the black gunk coming out you may have to repeat this process. I know it sounds like a lot of work but well worth the effort. Good luck
  4. just to be on the safe side, I'd call a septic cleaning company and see what they suggest. no need to have a huge bill b/c you had to call them out to fix the septic tank!! sounds like something is in the tubes--maybe even call around to jacuzzi/whirlpool retailers and see what they suggest.
  5. Try "Food Grade Hydrogen Peroxide". It is far more friendly to the environment over-all than bleach. Purchase quite reasonably from garden centers in larger amounts (like gals.). Can be used for many different cleaning tasks as well as watering (oxygenating) plants. MUST be diluted carefully - it will burn your skin at full strength. Other tasks include: brushing your teeth, purifying water, whitening & brightening laundry... lots more. I think it might be what the mfg'rs. use in products that say "oxi" in their name. Do a search "uses for food grade hydrogen peroxide" - lots of good info - has been used for cleaning ponds & pools before with good results.
  6. I use bleach to clean my jacuzzi all the time. bleach will not hurt the septic system when used in moderation. fill the tub with hot water add 1/2 cup of bleach let it sit for about 30 minutes that will clean the jets.. You may have to repeat the procedure twice.
  7. Try a solution of baking soda in water. run it thru your tub jets. this should loosen and clean out the system and not harm your septic tank. for a tub, you may have to use a box of it, but it will work. good luck and enjoy you jacuzzi
  8. try using baking soda,,,cleans disinfects and leaves the tub very clean and its safe
