There's a small tree growing directly on top of the sewer line, Should I dig it out?

The sewer pipe runs about 2 feet underground. I heard the tree roots could eventually break the pipe and clog it. Is this true?

  1. YES, It's true. Dig it out now, or you'll be doing it on a cold night when you can't wait. Back hoes are expensive, so is replaceing the sewer line.
  2. i think it can but i wouldn't chance it! dig it out but plant it somewhere els dont kill the poor lil guy D:
  3. I would..... Your are taking a chance, slim but, the roots could choke off the line, or may be strong enough to push it to crack in the future. Why take the chance? If it was a leech bed, definitely. Roots can easily get entwined in the lines. That is a great place for trees to get free fertilizer.
