- My pipe got the same issue as yours. Tree roots be cracking my pipe. It cost us a few Hundred for them to unclear the clog and balloon cement patch it with a camera. It last around 3-5 year buts after that you'll have to replace the pipe and I live in California and it will cost us $7,000-$9,000. Most older pipe are terracotta clay pipe and the tree will grow next to pipe on sidewalk or front yard and will crack it due to pressure.
- I used to work for a national sewer cleaning company. The roots get in through the cracks (or connections) in the old style clay or cast iron pipe. It usually needs to be done one way, unless you are talking about running both ways from the same clean out. I just called the company, and was told they only give estimates on the job site, and not a flat hourly fee. I would call several plumbers, and get estimates. In my day it was $80.00 an hour. A normal rooter job was done in 1 to 1 1/2 hour. There is no way of telling how long it has been, or in what shape your pipes are. There is no honest way I can tell what the cost will be. There are products on the market that kill tree roots. http://www.newtechbio.com/rootx-root-killer.htm I would recommend using them. Your best bet is to have the pipes replaced with plastic. That will eliminate the problem. Good luck.
- As for the cost cant tell u but can u push a hose pipe down the drain wont help with roots the other thing is how long does it take to block if its 14months or longer its best to rod the drain the next thing a tree root will always grow to water and it will find its way into a plastic pipe as the joints are the week spot if u do change the pipes please in case the joints in concrete
